On 5 November 2020 the European Court of Human Rights delivered a judgment in the case of Baz v. Ukraine (application no. 40962/13), in which it held that there had been a violation of the applicant’s rights guaranteed by Article 5 § 1 of the Convention on account of his illegal detention pending extradition to Turkey.
